Food for thought

I have been pondering over the possibility of doing a trek all by myself into the wilderness. One huge issue is food, what will I eat.
Its not like west, I do not have the luxury of either MRE's or freeze dried food.

Eventually after a lot of work and looking at my Jetboil cooking system I have been able to come up with a possible solution shared here.

I am looking at a solution with minimum cooking like a MRE or a mountain house freeze dried food and same taste and calories.

My solution however crude is the only thing that works until we get more hiker friendly food in the country.

The way it looks like I plan on heavy breakfasts and dinners while light lunches and snacks.

Breakfast

  • Buns, prefer over bread as they can be individually packed - 2 per meal suggested
  • Cheese - Prefer a sharp cheddar if not possible then Amul cheese cubes, butter is a mess to carry.
  • Caffe coffee day or Nestlae sachets of cappuccino, drinking chocolate
  • Cup noodles

On the trail

  • Chocolate
  • Nuts
  • Cup Cakes
  • Cheese

Lunch

  • Buns
  • Cheese

Evening snack

  • Maggie soup cubes - Available online and in INA, just put them in hot water and they are ready to drink.

Dinner

  • Ready to eat selection from MTR, Kitchens of India or Aashirvad ready to eat. They have a great selection of Indian dishes like dal, chana, biryani and so on, they can be warmed by putting in boiling water heated in my Jetboil. They are available in stores as well as on-line. One may eat one full dish by himself.
