Finally Happy called me and said lets do it there has been snow fall. I was available and the two of us rented a bus and were on our way to Lake Parashar. https://www.google.co.in/maps/preview?client=safari&q=Lake+Prashar+google+maps&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x3904fc27e69d547d:0x5178abb833ab9b68,Prashar+Lake&gl=in&ei=vBIfU53PDIf7rAeJ94AI&ved=0CCUQ8gEwAA
As always I will write a dry report and talk about the gear I took, my trip and how to recreate it, the route and a bit about our adventures.
We did this trek from 28th-Feb-2014 to 3rd-Mar-2014 and these pages document our adventure.
I will start off in this post with the list of gear we took with us. This is what I took and Happy took similar stuff. As you know I am mostly a Northface guy so most of my gear is Northface
- Backpack with rain cover - I have changed my backpack to a 35L Northface ALTEO 35, this is significantly smaller and comes with a rain cover. I am not super happy with it and will consider using Northface Profit 40 in future.
- Sleeping bag - Last time the Sleeping bag was the biggest bitch I carried around, it was super heavy for me and I was not happy. I have switched to the lightest Sleeping bag in the world Mountain Hardwear Phantom 0 and it is worth. This saves my life as we will see.
- Inners (1 pair, I wore) - These are good old Northface inners as described in previous posts
- Tee (1 I wore)- Again from Notrthface.
- Fleece Jacket (Packed during journey but wore it immediately) -Yet another Northface product.
- Synthetic Warm Jacket and Gortex Shell Jacket (Wore it all the time)- This is one of the Northface Tri-climate systems and I am super happy, this was another item which saved my life.
- Hiking Pants (1 pant, wore it all the itme)- I used the good old Northface hiking pants, last time they were too long for me so I got them trimmed.
- Rain Pants (Wore them as soon as my trek started)- Nortface breathable rain pants.
- Gloves (Wore them as soon as the trek started) - These are the ski gloves, again I am not super happy I was really cold and will switch to mittens.
- Socks - 2 pair - Northface warm Socks
- Medication - Took some personal medication made a very light first aid kit this time
- Boots - My good old Northface Icefall Gtx
- Gaiters - They were a lifesaver, this was the first time I used my OR Gaiters.
- Hiking Poles - I used some stuff I bought at the Northface store, I am still not happy, I think I will switch to the black diamond ones.
- Water bottle with drip protection - Two Nalgene bottels with Easy Sipper's. Again I am not happy and will try a camelback or something in future. The huge issue is drinking water means stopping and taking off the pack.
- Really cheep Nokia Cellphone whose battery lasts ages.
Most of the trek I carried my sleeping bag, one pair of socks, medication and water. And the pack was under 4 Kgs.
I do think we should have carried one or two more items but that will be in the lesson learnt section.
