Lake Parashar - Episode 6 Back to Mandi and other small adventures

We started our trek back to the snow line. The idea was a Jeep will be waiting for us there. Our trek was mostly uneventful. People had made a path in the ice and it was easy to walk. We had been told after a good 8 KMs ww will get our Jeep.

Happy was a bit worried because the weather was closing in so we were rushing through. Happy kept a watch for us and ensured no one was left behind. We were temped to take some pictures on the way back.

Most of our trek was uneventful barring one small adventure.

We reached a small ledge and found a couple of boys from IIT Mandi there. They asked us for help. They had been in a strange situation. They jumped from the ledge into the snow and one of the guys lost his show in snow. In there panic they had all jumped and stampeded the snow and compressed it into ice. We tried our best but could not find where the show was.

Happy as always rose to the occasion and made a temporary shoe using socks, poly bags and medical tape.

On our way down we met many students of the IIT who were trekking up to Parashar.

At the end our snowy slushy trail was our Jeep. We boarded it and were back in Mandi.

We landed in a Maha Shivratri festival of Mandi it was a great show and many small villages had brought there deities on portable shrines.

There was a fair on the occasion and we ate some lunch at our fair. We had  a lot of time to kill so we hunted for a Himachal fruit wine shop and bought some for home.

Around 7 PM we boarded our bus back to Delhi and said farewell to the land of treks...
