Kedarkantha Peak - Uno

It starts again

I was not particularly looking forward to a new trek, however one fine day I received a message from Happy if he would like us to go for a trek. I was slated to be assigned to a new project so I ensured work will not have any problem and replied back to him.

We went back and forth between our emails and decided between Kedarkantha or HarKiDun trek. Given the nature of these treks Happy made a call it would be best to do it with indiahikes.com this time. Eventually based on our schedule and other factors we agreed to Kedarkantha peak.

This would perhaps be my first serious trekking peak and due to holiday's I was quite out of shape. Unfortunately I was unable to workout before this trek even remotely and ended up going unprepared.

Inside the thinking mind

Unlike my other trek stories this will share some aspects around how I perceived things around me and not how to run the trek, for that is available on the india hikes site and a fellow trekker should use that as the source of material to recreate this trek.

However I will talk about things I took, mistakes I made and try to give an insight into my own psyche as I battled the cold.

ME!!!!!

I did learn a bit about me and people around me, grilling oneself has a habit of doing so. I have finally learnt humility is rubbish and to move ahead in life know your pace and know your strengths. Its further important to blow your own trumpet and deafen people with its sound as that is sound of success.

Know you will be successful and then grab this success. Humility has been invented by those who are successful to keep everyone else from achieving there true potential.

I have also realized that I do not like everyone, infact I dislike most people, I find or invent reasons for the same and its okey. I find it hard to meet individuals with an acceptable level of intelligence.

Gear

Coming back to the trek, the gear I took is as follows

  1. Backpack
  2. Sleeping bag
  3. Boots
  4. Gaiters
  5. Hydration bladder -no bottles or winter attachment for it
  6. Fleece
  7. Tees
  8. Inners
  9. socks
  10. Down Jacket
  11. Gortex shell
  12. Bandana
  13. Buff
  14. Chocolate, cheese, meds and so on
  15. Camera
  16. Cellphone
The idea was to keep it light and so light that I did not even take an extra change of clothes.

With an idea of not creating a separate blog entry let me just tell that we boarded Nanda Devi express from New Delhi and reached Dehra Dun next day on 19th Of Dec 2015. From Dehra Dun we boarded our cabs and started to drive towards Sankri the start of our trek on a rather eventful eight our journey.

Our Jeep had been mended a day ago and the steering wheel would lock at random and the jeep would drive towards the cliff side at its convenience. In any case it got fixed and we reached Sankri.
